I recommend natural beauty, baby, and cleaning products that are just as effective as toxic ones.

Best Non-Toxic Concealers 2020

Best Non-Toxic Concealers 2020

Non-toxic concealers have come a LONG way over the last few years. Many perform just as good if not better than traditional concealer. Not only do these non-toxic concealers avoid harmful ingredients. but they contain ingredients that nourish the skin instead of drying it out.

Each of my favorites has unique benefits, and you can’t go wrong whichever you choose.

Ilia True Skin Serum Concealer

The newest concealer on this list is the one I’m reaching for daily, Ilia True Skin Serum concealer. The doe foot applicator makes it convenient for doing quick makeup or applying on the go. The formula is lightweight and blends seamlessly with any tinted moisturizer, and perfectly pairs with Ilia’s Skin Tint (makeup with SPF).

BioCorrect is a featherweight medium coverage concealer that doubles as an eye primer. Its also great as a final step to brighten the under eye area - it’s that lightweight. BioCorrect contains organic algae, coffee, pomegranate and anti-aging peptides which depuff and improve skin.

fitglow conceal + concealer

Fitglow Conceal +

Conceal + is a full coverage concealer with a semi-matter finish that doesn’t require a powder to set. Once applied, Fitglow does not budge and lasts all day. This makes it a perfect choice for spot covering blemishes. Conceal + contains plant elastin, vitamin k, licorice root, and green tea to moisturize, brighten and protect skin. Why Should You Switch to Non-Toxic Concealer?

Traditional concealers can contain numerous harmful toxic ingredients such as the following:

  • PEGs (polyethylene glycols) - penetration enhancers that may be contaminated with 1,4-dioxane and ethylene oxide which are associated with reproductive, developmental, and endocrine effects, cancer, and DNA damage.[1]

  • Fragrance – mix of fragrance and chemicals associated with allergies, dermatitis, respiratory distress and potential effects on the reproductive system. Can contain unnamed toxic ingredients like phthalates which are associated with developmental and reproductive toxicity, endocrine disruption, and cancer.[2][3][4][5]

  • Butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) - preservative with concerns of skin, eye, and lung irritation, and organ system toxicity. Limited evidence of carcinogenicity and endocrine disruption.[6]

  • Phenoxyethanol- skin, eye, or lung irritant.  In 2008, the FDA warned consumers not to use Mommy’s Bliss Nipple cream because it contained phenoxyethanol which was harmful to infants.  The statement indicated phenoxyethanol could “depress the central nervous system and may cause vomiting and diarrhea, which can lead to dehydration in infants.”  Phenoxyethanol remains a controversial ingredient and even “green” beauty products continue to use it as a preservative.[8]

  • Parabens - antimicrobial preservatives that are immune and skin toxicants, mimic estrogen and disrupt the endocrine system, are toxic to the developmental and reproductive systems, interfere with gene expression, and are associated with cancer.[9]

  • Petrolatum - may be contaminated with polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) which are carcinogenic.[10][11]
