Body Butter
Oy-l Body Butter is a super hydrating, rich body lotion that is perfect for legs and body post shower.
Why It’s Effective
Body butter has a fluffy whipped texture and glides on with ease. Skin is left dewy but not greasy. It nourishes dry hands, elbows and feet too and is excellent for drier climates. The jar is large enough to fit your hand in (to use all of the product) yet small enough for travel.
There are 7 scents to choose from – unscented, lavender, pink grapefruit, orange rose, litsea basil, tiare lime, lemon mint. The scents in Oy-l occur naturally from essential oils, and there are no added fragrances.
Each and every ingredient is intentional and provides benefits. Here is the full ingredient list plus benefits of each:
Hemp seed oil – antioxidant and anti inflammatory properties, hydrating
Hemp seed butter – rich in fatty acids
Shea nut oil – natural sunscreen and provides vitamins and moisture
Meadowfoam seed oil – locks in moisture
Avocado oil – increases production of collagen
Jojoba oil – antimicrobial properties, locks in moisture and provides barrier from the elements
Essential oils - scent
Vitamin E – nourishing with anti-aging benefits
Why It’s Safe
Body lotions usually have a long ingredient list that includes fillers and preservatives that are not necessary for efficacy or safety.
Oy-l avoids commonly used harmful ingredients and sticks to a purposeful formula. Body Butter is free from the following harmful ingredients typically found in body lotions:
Phenoxyethanol – skin, eye, or lung irritant. In 2008, the FDA warned consumers not to use Mommy’s Bliss Nipple cream because it contained phenoxyethanol which was harmful to infants. The statement indicated phenoxyethanol could “depress the central nervous system and may cause vomiting and diarrhea, which can lead to dehydration in infants.” Phenoxyethanol remains a controversial ingredient and even “green” beauty products continue to use it as a preservative.
Parabens - Parabens - artificial preservatives associated with endocrine disruption, cancer, developmental and reproductive toxicity.
PEGs (polyethylene glycols) - penetration enhancers that may be contaminated with 1,4-dioxane and ethylene oxide which are associated with reproductive, developmental, and endocrine effects, cancer, and DNA damage.
Fragrance - mix of fragrance and chemicals associated with allergies, dermatitis, respiratory distress and potential effects on the reproductive system. Can contain unnamed toxic ingredients like phthalates which disrupt the endocrine system
