Welcome.

I recommend natural beauty, baby, and cleaning products that are just as effective as toxic ones.

Lily Lolo Bronzer

Lily Lolo Bronzer

Searching for a bronzer is almost as tricky is finding a foundation match. Not too orange, not to muddy, not too glittery, you get the idea. Plus, most traditional bronzers contain ingredients you want to avoid like talc.

Lily Lolo Sculpt & Glow Natural Bronzer

Lily Lolo bronzers add natural-looking color and blend super easy so there are no visible lines or splotches. In the Sculpt and Glow palette, the darker square is matte without glitter and the lighter shade has very fine glitter for a “glow-y” effect. The two can be used separately to contour and highlight, or mixed together for a bronzed glow-y look.

The Sculpt and Glow palette is best on fair to medium skin tones. Lily Lolo has three other single shade bronzers ranging from light to dark tan as well as a single illuminator.

Bronzer Without Harmful Ingredients

One commonly used ingredient in bronzers that has been found to be quite harmful is talc. Talc should be avoided because of the potential contamination of asbestiform fibers. Asbestiform fibers are carcinogens and studies have linked them to mesothelioma. Additionally, there is no safe level of exposure to asbestos.

Guidelines state that talc used in the US should be free from asbestos but in October 2019, the FDA detected asbestos in a sample of Johnson & Johnson’s baby powder. Thousands of lawsuits have been filed concerning a link between ovarian cancer and talc powder.

Sadly, the link between talc, asbestos and ovarian cancer was made as far back as the 1970s. Due to corporate influence on regulation, there has been effort to hide this, and talc is still found in products today.

Other ingredients to avoid that are commonly found in bronzers include the following:

  • Fragrance - mix of fragrance and chemicals associated with allergies, dermatitis, respiratory distress and potential effects on the reproductive system. Can contain unnamed toxic ingredients like phthalates which disrupt the endocrine system.

  • Parabens - Parabens are routinely used as antimicrobial preservatives in everyday products from cosmetics, skincare, and household products to pharmaceuticals and food and beverage processing. Studies indicate that parabens mimic estrogen in the body and affect breast cell growth.[2] [3]

  • Phenoxyethanol – skin, eye, or lung irritant. In 2008, the FDA warned consumers not to use Mommy’s Bliss Nipple cream because it contained phenoxyethanol which was harmful to infants. The statement indicated phenoxyethanol could “depress the central nervous system and may cause vomiting and diarrhea, which can lead to dehydration in infants.” Phenoxyethanol remains a controversial ingredient and even “green” beauty products continue to use it as a preservative.
